When upgrading a hot water system to use heat pump technology you may encounter issues with cupboard space. This useful addition to the Stainless Lite unvented cylinder range now offers a solution.

Building on a proven track record this new unvented cylinder has been developed to utilise the lower temperatures generated through Heat Pump technology to provide your property with mains pressure domestic hot water from a cylinder with only 475mm diameter.

The Stainless Lite HP cylinder is available in two sizes - 180 litres and 210 litres.

Despite its reduced diameter the Stainless Lite HP cylinder still boasts a 3m² high performance corrugated coil which has been developed to achieve maximum heat transfer. The heat exchanger is a totally new design. It consists of a multi-pass corrugated stainless steel tube in parallel to reduce pressure loss whilst maximising the heat transfer and ensuring the high flow rates essential to work with heat pumps.

Due to the fact that many heat pumps will not raise the stored water temperature to 60 degrees C, which is necessary to prevent the growth of Legionella, the Stainless Lite HP model is supplied with an immersion heater tapping and thermostat pocket.

It is recommended that a thermostat is fitted which brings the immersion heater 'on' at a temperature just below the heat pump maximum and switches 'off' at 60 or 65 degrees C. In this way the use of 'direct' electricity is minimised and most of the water heating is achieved through the heat pump.
