Economy 7 (Maxistore)
cylinders and combination tanks are designed to take
advantage of the various cheap
rate and night-time tariffs of by electricity providers.
What is ECONOMY 7
At night, the cost of electricity
drops considerably with demand. This is an ideal time for the
householder to take advantage of cheap rate fuel and heat domestic
hot water. Economy tariff electricity can be used exclusively, or in
conjunction with an indirect heat source (such as a boiler).
Direct Economy 7 hot water cylinder
Economy 7 (Maxistore) Direct cylinders
are generally designed with two heating elements. The lower of the
two heats the cylinder overnight, the upper is utilised as a 'boost'
element.
Indirect Economy 7 hot water cylinder
An Economy 7 cylinder may also be
fitted with a boiler coil. If so, the cylinder can be heated by a
boiler as required but can also take advantage of cheap electricity
when available.
Extra thick Economy 7 insulation
Because Economy 7 cylinders are
generally heated overnight they are invariably coated with an extra thick
covering of insulation that dramatically reduces any
standing heat losses, ensuring the cylinder is still full of hot
water by morning.
Please note: Economy 7 insulation is approx 50mm thick. Dimensions
stated below do not include the insulation. Therefore, 100mm must be
added to the stated diameter to appreciate the finished size of a
unit. |
